My Story For the past two years, I had engaged the services of two separate property managers to look after our investment properties. The property manager of company no. 1 was never pro-active. The only time he spoke to me was when I initiated contact because I had a query or were satisfied with their services. Company no. 2 was exactly the same, except that he kept in touch through a newsletter, which was really of no use to me because nothing is mentioned about property management. Mostly the information was about properties for sale. It was interesting that both property managers contacted me until they had been notified by my new company for property management that their services were no longer needed. In fact, both were very upset. They were upset? I am the one who was paying, not the reverse. Each wanted to know why I had changed and no doubt told them. When the property manager made a further inspection of the properties, the tenants were home. They told my new property manager that the old service company, always very poor and slow follow-up were the problems they had. I told him the old company and the director replied "tenants always say that." In any case the point of this story is to show that because people do not say anything, does not mean they are happy with their services. Also, as a business person who needs to be on the ball. Being pro-active, nonreactive. To do this you need to learn to organize, manage your time and yourself as effectively as possible. These are not skills most people are born with. They must be learned. The Final Word There are lots of businesses around, however most people spend a lot of time chasing, take the money and run to the next person. But it would be much easier to watch what they already have. (And the same applies to your personal life.)
